dc.description.abstract The aim of this research is to know the standard of proxemic theory and interpersonal zone in the library at Matana University. At the University of Matana there is a library that is often used daily by students. This research uses qualitative methods using the supporting theory of proxemix and interpersonal zone by Edward T. Hall. By conducting a direct survey to the field (library) and measuring the spaces of inter-human activities in the library and then matching with the standards of inter-human space that already exist (proxemiks). From the result of the research, it can be concluded that there are many spaces in the Library of Matana University which are sufficient for standard proxemix, namely: locker area, reception area, bookcase area, reading area, and office space for the Chief of Staff. These rooms already have a decent size for inter-human activities, so that visitors can feel comfortable on the move. In addition, there are also some spaces that are not sufficient to existing standards, namely: computer area and discussion room. In these spaces, measures for inter-human activities are still not feasible or sufficient for visitors to move comfortably. For that, it needs a change in these spaces so that activities in it to be better and efficient. en_US
